Mr. Brown thoughts!

Mr. Brown surprised me with his thought. I admit, I probably had prejudice against older teacher because it reminds me of my own school experience. The fact is that most of my older teachers were just overwhelm about their job. They were there to work, not to enhance their students knowledge. That's why Mr. Brown inspires me on the way he sees school environment. He said that the best way to learn something is to teach it, and I totally buy his idea.

With that beeing said, I have to agree that technology, creativity and learning should be part of a new way of teaching. We shouldn't be scare to improve and develop our knowledge on a different way since we are living in an instant world. Unfortunately, I'm a little bit obset about the fact that we think our identity comes from what we wear, what our parents own and how much materiel possession we have. It's so true that our future generation is growing with this in mind. As a mother of my own, it makes me think about the value I want to give to my kids and also to my future students. I found excellent the idea of sharing with peers to stimulate our imagination. Anyway, that's exactly what most researcher has done in the past. And when I say sharing, I mean exchanging knowledge without looking at age, status and gender. We can all learn from each one if only, and I'm saying if only we are taking the time to listen to each other. This would bring us to a different world where everybody would participate in our network.

I hope this will bring us to new way to teach and accept each other criticism.

Computer Class Management

As a mother of two kids, I think I developed already some essential skills needed to have a better classroom management than younger students. I have to take advantage of it. Because in my everyday life, I deal with the authority I have with my kids on most discipline situations. Thanks God, I've been watching Super Nanny for years now. She saved my life as a mother. Because it's not easy to become the authority, you have to stay consistent through the rules you give but also in the kind of punishment you give as well. Just like teachers are doing in their classroom.

It seems pretty obvious for me that kids need to have bounderies to suceed in a task. The only thing that we might forget is to clarify them as childish as they are. As future teachers, we have to develop our own way to work in our classroom. Our practicum is the perfect way to discover who we are and want we are expecting from our students.

It's a really good reflection to keep in mind to set our boundaries and our values to have the perfect computer classroom management. I truly believe that it does exist!

I wonder if Super Nanny will also save my life as a teacher!

TECHNOLOGIES!!!

Technologies has changed so many things in our life. I learn something new about it everyday in my student's life. Thanks God to put good friends and teachers in my life to help me with new technologies. Because it's not an innate capacity for me. I'm glad and feel so much better to be updated about these.
The last reading I've done, for my computer class, open me to a new vocabulary of Software. I didn't know much about it and I found it quit interesting to know what was going on in this industry. Eventhough it's not really one of my field of interest. I think more you hear about it a better inrest will grow for it. So as I said, after reading Sortware Industry vs. Software Society: Who Wins in 2020?, I was surprised to read that the proprietary software model therefore limits innovation to 1/6th of its theoretical potential. I though that everytime they found something new the proprietary would rush to put it online as soon as they can. I couldn't believe it. So I haven't seen the 5/6th of what's coming next yet!!! I can't wait to see it.
It was also the first time I realised that open source has opened innovation in this industry. I can't wait to see who will win the battle and what's coming next. I know it will always be for our best interest!

Which identity?

Every times there is something new, we all think this will be better because it’s new. Just like a baby! But the reality is that it makes significant impact in our life.

We don’t even think about what can happen if……? It’s not part of us, we trust what's new. We love new stuff and we are always ready for what’s coming next. We are so happy and excited with all the new technologies that have been creating since the last decade. But have we thought these technologies might change our life? I don’t think so!

What about your identity!!! Have you thought about it? I didn’t as much as right now since Mark made us realize the importance of it. Our identity! Is it becoming a new reality of having it stolen from you or what? I have heard so many times that people around me got their identity stolen from them. One of my friend told me during Holidays that someone had apply for a Future Shop credit card on his name with all his personal information. About two weeks later, my friend received a new credit card from the mail and couldn’t remember when he had applied for this card and why he already had a bill from it. Can you imagine how he felt to know that someone else was using his own identity? I would feel like someone have been cheating with MY LIFE. It’s kind of scary to hear about a story like this but it’s truthful. Keep your eyes wide open, you never know!!!

My reaction!

Since we left our course Tuesday night, I felt so powerful but on the same time I was "choc". I probably thougth I could make the difference in these children's life. With a different regard after a week, I came back to reality. Yes, there's a possibility for me to make a difference. But the world haven't been constructing in one day. So I'm more realistic!

I've just watch again the videos and my reflection are not really concluent. But thoughtful!!!

To be true to all of you, I feel so retarded. Yes, I'm older than most of you are and I'm not even part of your generation. I'm only 28 and I have worked to so many places. I got married and I had two wonderful kids to make me realise that I'm growing up as fast as they are!!! Why my life is so different than you?

Let's have some fun "with me"!

- I think I saw my first computer in my elementary school in grade four. (Yes, It was in yellow and black)

- I bought my first cellphone three years ago and I still have the same one. Only and I said only to call!!! (Anne-Marie and Catherine know it... now!)

- I have internet at home since September 2007.

- I register on Facebook in November 2007.

- My father bought me a PC only a year ago.

-My sister gave me a MP3 and I still haven't add music on it. I'm listening the radio!!!

- I haven't use my USB key since I bought it.

-I have my first blog address since last course.

I said I was going to be true to you but you probably wasn't expecting that. But that's where I am now. So next class when you'll see me with a big interrogation mark on my forehead, can you please come over and help me. I will really appreciate!!!

It's amazing for me to be in such a course in our instant world. I will be updated at least once in my life.
My family is my world, would you like to share your world with me?
